The techniques, one by one

Everything the app computes for a chart, in the order the ancient authors weighed it. Each has a section on the chart page, and a place in the written reading.

The foundations

Sect
Day or night, decided by the Sun above or below the horizon. The sect light leads the chart; the planets of the sect in power are in hayz when they also stand in the right hemisphere and a sign of their own gender.
The rising sign and the twelve places
The sign on the eastern horizon at birth is the Helm; the places are counted sign by sign from it. Each place has a topic — life, livelihood, siblings, parents, children, illness, marriage, death, travel and the sacred, work and rank, friends, enemies.
The five dignities
Domicile, exaltation, triplicity, bound and face, scored to show how much standing a planet has where it sits. The victor of the chart is the planet with the most claims over the Sun, Moon, rising degree, Lot of Fortune and the prenatal new or full moon.
Configurations
Sextile, square, trine and opposition by whole sign, with the applying and separating partner and the right and left side; the bonification and maltreatment of planets by the benefics and malefics; receptions between planets; spear-bearing.

The finer divisions

Bounds (terms)
Each sign cut into five unequal bands, each ruled by a planet. The Egyptian bounds, Ptolemy's, the Chaldean and the fifth-century tables are all available; the ruler of the bound of the rising degree is one of the chart's chief significators.
Decans (faces)
Thirty-six divisions of ten degrees, each with its lord.
Twelfth-parts
Each sign divided into twelve, mapping every 2½° of a planet's position onto a whole sign — the fine position the authors weigh beside the coarse. Antiscia, the mirror-points across the solstitial axis, are shown with them.
Monomoiria
The single-degree rulers, in both of the systems the texts give.
Fixed stars
The bright stars of the anonymous treatise of 379 CE, marked on the wheel and read when a planet or the rising degree stands on one.

The lots

Fortune and Spirit
The two chief lots — the body and the livelihood; the soul and the doings — reckoned from the Sun, Moon and rising degree, reversed by night in one doctrine and not in another.
The Hermetic lots
Eros, Necessity, Courage, Victory, Nemesis, Basis and Exaltation, each read with its ruler.
The topical lots
Father, mother, siblings, children, marriage, foreign land, slaves, expedition — the family lots of Paulus and Hephaistio.

The time-lords

Annual profections
One sign a year from the rising sign; the lord of the year's sign holds the year. Monthly and daily profections beside it.
Zodiacal releasing
Valens's great timing technique: from the Lot of Spirit or Fortune (or any lot), the life unrolls sign by sign into periods and sub-periods, with the loosing of the bond marking the decisive turns. The app expands every level down to hours and marks the periods running now.
Decennials and the ages of life
The ten-year chapters run by the planets in their order from the sect light; Ptolemy's seven ages; Valens's climacteric years by sevens and nines.
Firdaria
The Persian planetary periods, shown for comparison.
Solar revolutions and primary directions
The chart of the year at each return of the Sun, read beside the profection; and the turning of the sky after birth that carries each planet to the chart's angles, a degree for a year.

Beyond the nativity

Horary and inceptions
A chart for the moment a question is asked, read by Serapio's rules for undertakings and Hephaistio's inceptions, on its own page.
Synastry
Two charts on one wheel, with every panel of one read against the other.
The moving sky
Transits replayed over the birth chart, day by day or year by year, pausing at exact aspects.
Vedic and modern comparison
A sidereal chart with the Vimshottari dasha, the vargas and the nakshatras, and a modern chart with the outer planets, twelve house systems and the minor bodies — drawn beside the Hellenistic chart so the same sky can be seen three ways.

Occult Astrology reads a birth chart the way the Greek-language astrologers of antiquity did. Cast a chart and compare it with a Vedic and a modern reading of the same sky.
